Commitment to LGBT Inclusion

What it means to support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities:

Our congregation voted to become a Reconciling Congregation on October 28, 1992 and joined the Reconciling Congregation Program. The Reconciling movement is the commitment among United Methodists to change the ecclesial discrimination toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Christians within the United Methodist Church and work toward a church and society that is fully inclusive of people regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.  Trinity continues to support the Reconciling Ministries Network (the successor organization of the Reconciling Congregation Program) until there is no longer a need to remind the United Methodist Church and society at large that, as the Apostle Paul wrote, “God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Godself” and that “[God] has committed to us the word of reconciliation” ((2 Corinthians 5:19).  As such, we are involved in a variety of community outreach ministries related to LGBT inclusion and civil rights.  The following is the statement adopted in 1992 when Trinity affiliated with the Reconciling movement:

“Trinity is a congregation who welcomes and affirms all people inclusive of Race, Nationality, Age, Gender, Gender Identity, Marital Status, Sexual Orientation, Physical Ability, Mental Ability, Economic Class, or Educational Class.”
